About Japan Hidden Gems SAKURA

Hi, I'm a Tokyo local — and this is my love letter to Japan.

I've lived in Suginami, Tokyo for years, and every day I discover something new — a tiny ramen shop tucked down a side street, a moss-covered shrine hidden between apartment buildings, a neighborhood that feels completely different after dark.

Japan Hidden Gems SAKURA was born from a simple frustration: most Japan travel content shows the same 10 spots. Senso-ji. Mount Fuji. Shibuya Crossing. Beautiful — yes. But Japan is so much deeper than that.

What you'll find here

This blog is written in English, for international travelers who want to go beyond the guidebook. As a bilingual writer, I can access local knowledge that doesn't show up in English-language searches — and share it with you, honestly and practically.

  • 🗺️ Neighborhood guides — real Tokyo, not tourist Tokyo
  • 🍜 Food & drink — where locals actually eat
  • 🚄 Day trip itineraries — timed, budgeted, tested by me
  • ⛩️ Culture & festivals — how to experience them respectfully
  • 📸 Photography tips — find the best shots at every spot
